Kirkland, WA, February 20, 2025 – Verasonics, Inc., the leader in research ultrasound, today announced the introduction of the Essentials of Ultrasound Imaging (EoUSI) Course – a ready-to-teach, comprehensive educational solution that provides a curriculum similar to what is offered in a graduate-level ultrasound course at an academic institution or commercial organization.

The EoUSI course, created by ultrasound scientists Thomas L. Szabo, PhD, and Peter Kaczkowski, PhD, allows students and industry professionals who may want to improve their understanding of basic ultrasound concepts to couple the education of ultrasound theory with hands-on experiences using the Vantage® Research Ultrasound System in a laboratory setting.

“As the recognized leader in research ultrasound, Verasonics is proud to offer this comprehensive educational program to our customers,” said Jon K. Daigle, President and Chief Executive Officer at Verasonics. “The EoUSI course reinforces our commitment to empower the next group of ultrasound innovators by providing essential educational tools required to train new and existing scientists and researchers.”

The EoUSI course includes ten lectures, nine lab modules, a custom-designed phantom for student experiments, and twenty-seven Essentials of Ultrasound Imaging Simulators. The Simulators are based on a new learning paradigm, allowing students to explore ultrasound concepts using interactive, near-real-time simulations via a graphical user interface (GUI).

The EoUSI Simulators are a companion to the course, as well as the textbook, Essentials of Ultrasound Imaging, by Szabo and Kaczkowski (Elsevier, 1st Edition). EoUSI Simulators are offered in Windows and macOS packages; they are available for download via the Verasonics website at no charge.
This first release of the EoUSI Course is available with the Vantage platform.
