Arbitrary Waveform for Ultrasonic Research
ASNT Research Symposium

Verasonics will be exhibiting the Vantage systems with arbitrary waveform for ultrasonic research capabilities at the upcoming ASNT Research Symposium in April.

The ASNT symposium is the largest, dedicated event for non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and non-destructive testing (NDT) industry professionals, technology and equipment suppliers, researchers in arbitrary waveform for ultrasonics, and engineers in the world. ”

The symposium will present short courses, morning lectures, technical sessions, special events, and exhibits. ASNT has a reputation for creating opportunities for participants to meet influencers and experts to discover more about solutions f0r NDE/NDT challenges. The event also offers the perfect place to broaden their professional network.

Vantage Arbitrary Waveform for Ultrasonic Research

Verasonics Vantage ultrasound systems are highly programmable platforms, uniquely designed to enable research in high energy delivery technology, array-based sensing, and imaging in a broad range of technical fields. Due to its overall flexibility, numerous applications utilizing varying modulated waveforms, can be investigated using the Vantage’s multiple channels, arbitrary waveform transmitter. This research in arbitrary waveform for ultrasonics capability is available on all Vantage systems.

Benefits of Vantage’s research in arbitrary waveform for ultrasonics capability include the following.

Available new Vantage systems or as an upgrade
Arbitrarily long tri-state pulses can be defined by using a compact format
The 250 MHz clock positions state transitions for precise phasing
Independent coding for each transmit channel
Utilizes pulse wave modulation to modify amplitude>

The Benefits of Using Coded Transmissions include:

Superior penetration
Increased frame Rate
Imaging in aberrating Media
Improved upon axial and contrast resolution

The Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) Toolkit

Verasonics’ research in arbitrary waveform for ultrasonics simplifies the definition and execution of the preferred waveforms. This is an excitingArbitrary Waveform for Ultrasonic Research benefit for arbitrary waveform for ultrasonic research.

We developed the technology to make it possible to examine and design the arbitrary waveforms connected with a specific transmission. In other words, it’s possible to have the tool design for arbitrary waveform for ultrasonic research, a tristate drive waveform to generate an approximation of a desired acoustic waveform, based on the transducer’s impulse response.

It’s important to note that the impulse responses provided by Verasonics for selected transducer models, also included with the toolkit, include the ultrasound system transmitter’s impulse response.

The toolkit helps produce any desired waveform in the transducer’s passband along with transducer impulse response compensation. In addition, the kit produces with AM and FM encoded signals, waveforms for coded excitation research, time-reversal recordings, and more.  To find out more about arbitrary waveform for ultrasonic research, click here.
