A History of Innovation
In 2013, Verasonics revolutionized research ultrasound with the innovative Vantage system. For the last 5 years Verasonics has continued to improve the Vantage platform with expanded configurations, new features and options, and more capabilities for researchers worldwide. At IUS 2018, we will present the latest breakthroughs and updates.
Every Vantage system in use today can be upgraded to support all new features and capabilities, thereby protecting the investments of researchers and institutions worldwide. The addition of free software updates expands our commitment to help researchers and developers innovate and achieve their goals.
What’s New from Verasonics?
New High-Channel-Count Data Acquisition Systems
Verasonics is pleased to announce important enhancements for high-channel-count data acquisition, using from 2 to 8 Vantage systems simultaneously. A key component is the Volume Imaging Package which provides faster data transfer, distributed beamforming, and a new programming model for 3D imaging. A rack-mount system for the Vantage systems and computers provides efficient utilization of space and ergonomic considerations, with all host adapters and cables, synchronization module, installation and scripting support included. Additional key components are 1024-element 2D Matrix Array transducers at 3.5 and 7.5 MHz that interface through a UTA 256 Direct adapter on each system providing direct channel-to-element control, or the UTA 1024-MUX adapter providing 4-to-1 multiplexing, which allows researchers to begin volume acquisition investigations with a single Vantage system. For researchers who are seeking a lower-cost solution for multi-system data acquisition, Verasonics introduces the Vantage 256 External Clock configuration which adds additional transmit and receive pathways driven by the master clock on a primary system. External Clock systems can be upgraded to full independent functionality as needs require and budgets permit.
Vantage 32LE™ Research Ultrasound System
The new, affordable Vantage 32LE™ Research Ultrasound System is designed with the same reliable, advanced proprietary hardware and software architecture as the other Vantage systems, providing unparalleled speed, flexibility and upgradability for materials science/NDE and biomedical applications. New HIFUPlex portfolio expanded for Focused Ultrasound R&D
For research in focused ultrasound (FUS), the HIFUPlex™ portfolio has been expanded to six pairs of transducers for ultrasound-guided FUS (USgFUS) research. Each pair includes two arrays, one for imaging and one for energy delivery, arranged coaxially for optimal alignment to guide and monitor energy delivery. Also included are a standoff cone, alignment tools for quality assurance, and kit of disposables. The Vantage HIFUPlex software also includes the USgFUS GUI for energy delivery planning using the six pairs of HIFUPlex transducers sold by Verasonics. Read more…
New Software Releases & Improvements
Verasonics has improved the Color Doppler imaging acquisition, filters and processing algorithms to provide more sensitivity for your Doppler research projects. New example scripts making use of these improvements are immediately available on select probes, but the new algorithms can be adapted to most probes and applications.
Included in the latest software release is a new Dynamic HvMUX Programming Model that allows dynamic creation of multiplexer apertures which are extended to cover all the elements in the transducer. For linear arrays, the new dynamic programming method allows creation of non-contiguous apertures, and for some transducers, all elements can be made active for transmitting a full aperture plane wave. This new method is especially useful for multiplexed matrix arrays, such as those used with the 1024 MUX Universal Transducer Adapter (UTA). Read more…
NEW UTA Adapters
New in 2018 are a number of UTA adapters for NDE and Biomedical transducers, including
- adapters with up to 128 LEMO connectors for single-element transducers
- an adapter that allows direct connection for up to 256 elements
- an adapter for Ultrasonix transducers
- adapters for combinations of single elements and phased array probes using Hypertronics and I-PEX connectors
All Vantage systems can be upgraded to UTA capability, and adapters can be interchanged in a matter of minutes – no tools are required.
New Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Advanced Research Tool
The Vantage system is now compatible with University of Bristol’s BRAIN software for advanced NDE research, including full matrix capture of metals, plastics and composite materials. The BRAIN analysis program works with virtually all transducers for characterizing materials with irregular surfaces and sizing defects. Read more…
New Software Update Policy
Verasonics continues to expand its Vantage example script library, and now provides over 500 scripts that are included with the software on all Vantage systems. These scripts can be used as they are or modified for specific transducers and new applications according to your research objectives.
All Vantage users will now have access to the latest software releases offering new features, the latest tools, bug fixes, and more, at no charge, with the release of Vantage Software Version 4.0.0 in the coming weeks. Until now, only Vantage systems that were under warranty or extended warranty were eligible to receive software updates. Verasonics has modified this software update policy so that all customers can benefit from the improvements that are continually being made to the Vantage platform. Verasonics typically distributes Vantage software updates 3 to 4 times a year.
